2009. M_MNDZ House
M_MNDZ House
Guadalajara, Mexico.
Residential.
When purchased, the building consisted of empty commercial stores. The project´s purpose was to design a family house instead, with a low budget as a main limitation.
The main concept was the re-use of the patio as a main space for a peaceful spot for reading, drinking a coffee and thus creating a cozy space that could inspire intimate conversation or social reunions.
When open, the huge main slicing windows allow the living room to bring natural-outdoor feeling of the cozy patio/terrace inside, keeping it protected from the heavy sunlight, rain, etc. At the same time, from the patio/terrace, one should enjoy the "homy" feeling or even the music playing inside, with a very easy access from outside to inside and vice-versa.
To keep the house protected from high temperatures in the summer, the main facade got covered with a ficus, while some parasols are placed above the windows. The house was painted in white, to bring the most of natural colours to life, like plants, flowers and stone.
